Tangy and Flavorful Easy Sloppy Joes that can be eaten any day of the week!
I love sandwiches and these easy Sloppy Joes are right up there in my families favorite sandwiches. Sometimes we add Cooper sharp cheese in to the bread right before piling on the hot Sloppy Joes. Other times we make up a cole slaw mix made with Good seasonings Italian dressing mix and add that to the sandwich. Either version are equally delicious with these
Easy Sloppy Joes.
Skillet Sloppy Joes
Serves 6-8
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds lean ground beef or ground turkey
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1 1/4 cup ketchup
8 ounces crushed tomato or canned spaghetti sauce
1 tablespoon Worchester sauce
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup water (optional)
12-16 hamburger rolls
DIRECTIONS
In a medium skillet over medium heat brown the meat, onion and green pepper. Drain the fat.
Stir in the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, mustard, ketchup, tomato sauce, Worchester sauce, vinegar and brown sugar. Add salt and pepper to taste. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30-40 minutes. Add water 15 minutes prior to end of cooking time if you prefer a runny sauce.
Place Sloppy Joe mix in to each hamburger rolls.
For an even more delicious sandwich, add a slice of cooper sharp cheese in the sandwich.
Serve a side of coleslaw for a complete meal.
