Grilled Meatloaf Recipe has a Unique Smoky and Delicious Flavor!

Why create a Grilled Meatloaf Recipe? Loving meatloaf and my grill, it seemed like a natural to try out meatloaf on the grill. When considering how to make this grilled meatloaf recipe , it was important that the meatloaf had to hold up to being placed on the grill slats and that much of the meat drippings would not remain in the meat. As it turns out, the juices from the meat drips down on to the flames and create a smoke which results in a delicious and unique flavor. Because lots of the drippings leave the meat when grilled, an added benefit is a low fat version of meat loaf.

Grilled Barbeque Meatloaf

Serves 8

INGREDIENTS

1 – 1 1/4 pounds extra lean ground beef
1 – 1 1/4 pounds ground pork
2 cups panko bread crumbs
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon Worchester sauce
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon dried parsley
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup favorite bottled barbeque sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.(medium low heat)

Mix together everything except that last 4 ingredients. Do not over work the mix.

Divide mixture in half and form 2 equal size loaves, approximately 4 inches wide and 6-7 inches long.

Mix the last 4 ingredients and stir well. Spread half the sauce on to the two loaves. Reserve the remaining half of the sauce for basting.

Place loaves over indirect heat and cover for about 30 minutes. Lift off lid and baste the meat loaves with the remaining sauce. Grill another 20-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 155 degree F.

Remove the meat loaves and let sit for 10 minutes prior to cutting. The loaves should reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. Cut in to 1/2 slices.
