An Authentic Homemade Meatball Recipe!
This homemade meatball recipe added to a homemade marinara sauce is so delcious and comforting. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, I'll pull out this
homemade meatball recipe
and prepare ahead for eating the next day. Come monday, I just heat it up, boil my spaghetti and have a homemade meal ready in about 20 minutes.
Authentic Homemade Meatballs and Marinara Sauce
Serves 6-8
MEATBALL INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
1 egg
3/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
or 1 tablespoon dry parsley
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teasponn black pepper
1/4 teasponn salt
1-2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
MARINARA INGREDIENTS
1 medium onion, chopped
1/8 cup olive oil
2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
1 bay leaf
3/4 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
SPAGHETTI
12 ounces spaghetti, uncooked
Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
In a large saute pan, heat the oil to medium heat and add the onions and garlic and suate until onions are transparent. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and simmer for 90 minutes.
Mix together the all of the meatball ingredients. From in to 12 meatballs. Keep in the refridgerator and remove when ready to add the meatballs to the sauce. (Meatballs can be made up to a day ahead)
Add meatballs to the sauce and cook on low heat for another 30 minutes.
Cook pasta according to package directions.
Top meatballs and sauce on to pasta and top with grated parmesan cheese. Serve with garlic bread.
