No Mess with this Easy and Cheesy Meatball Casserole Recipe!
I love this meatball casserole recipe because the results tastes like a delicious meatball sub but without all of the mess of dripping suace and cheesy hands. This very easy
meatball casserole recipe
is easy to make and a favorite with my family.
Meatball Sub Casserole
Serves 6-8
INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup chopped onions
1/2 seasoned breadcrumbs
1 egg
3 tablespoons parmesan cheese
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound lean ground beef
1 Italian bread loaf
1 package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 teasoons Italian seasonings
2 cips shredded mozzarella cheese
1 jar (28 ounces) spaghetti sauce
1 cup water
2 cloves garlic, minced
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a bowl, mix together the onions, breadrumbs, egg, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper.
Crumble ground beef over the mixture and mix well. Shape in to 1 inch balls and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile, cut the bread in to 1 inch slices. Spray a 9 x 12 casserole pan with non stick spray and arrange the bread on to the pan. ( you may have extra pieces that will not be used)
Combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, and Italian seasoning and spread on to the bread. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup parmesan cheese.
Combine the sauce, water, garlic and meatballs. Top over cheese mixture and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake, uncovered for 30 minutes.
